Frequently asked questions

What BankFileKit does, keeps local, and does not promise.

These answers describe the current public product, not planned payment, account, AI, or support features.

Does BankFileKit upload my bank file?

No. The core tools read, parse, preview, validate, and generate the output in browser memory. The source file is not sent to a BankFileKit server, analytics provider, AI service, or error-monitoring service.

Who are the tools for?

They are designed for bookkeepers, small businesses, and financial advisers who need to format a bank CSV, inspect QBO or OFX data, or prepare a candidate import file.

Which input formats are supported?

The relevant routes accept CSV, TXT, XLS, XLSX, QBO, or OFX input. Each tool page lists its exact input, output, size, row, and workflow limits.

Is CSV to QBO guaranteed to import?

No. CSV or Excel to QBO is a free experimental beta and has not been verified in a real QuickBooks Desktop import matrix. Use a blank test company and keep a backup.

Is the current site free?

Yes. The current public tools are free and require no account. There is no checkout, paid subscription, or payment processing on the site.

Is BankFileKit an Intuit or QuickBooks product?

No. BankFileKit is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, operated by, or endorsed by Intuit or QuickBooks.

Does a QBO or OFX audit CSV import back into QuickBooks?

Not necessarily. Those downloads are review files containing supported fields and available metadata; they are not universal QuickBooks upload CSV files.

How are possible duplicates handled?

Possible duplicates are shown as warnings. BankFileKit does not automatically delete them, because two transactions with the same date, amount, and description can still be legitimate separate transactions.

What should I send to support?

Send the tool name, browser, input format, approximate row-count bucket, visible rule ID, and a fictional reproduction. Never email a real bank file, transaction screenshot, account number, balance, or login credential.

What is not supported?

The current product does not provide PDF or image OCR, QIF, QFX, IIF, QBW or QBX conversion, bank login connections, automatic categorization, reconciliation, or accounting and tax advice.
